Turkish bedding — why Turkey
Turkey has been weaving cotton from its own crop for decades, and for a home market where bed linen is part of the wedding trousseau. Hence the things you recognise a Turkish set by: a dense weave, strong seams, colours that survive many washes, and finishes — embroidery, piping, raised patterns — rarely found in mass production.
Every set in this category comes from a Turkish manufacturer. You will find satin, Egyptian cotton, jacquard and damask — usually in the 200×220 size, in sets with a sheet and often with a bedspread as well.
What to expect
Turkish sets tend to be richer than European ones at the same price: six or seven pieces instead of four, carefully finished edges, a zip instead of a fold-over. The design can be bolder too — ornaments, paisley and embroidery alongside calm, solid colours.
